Sword-shaped Escrima Stick?

I've had this since the 1970s and have wondered if it's old or just a well-used practice sword or escrima stick of some kind.

That is a very nice club. The " guard" part of the grip reminds me of the Solomon Islands. It also looks Amazonian but I lean towards the Solomon's and PNG. I have a PNG club of a similar form but not as nice as this one. One of the pre was Solomon Islands is now a region of PNG. I will add a picture when I have time. There is also the Admiraty Islands?

Had a bit more time to think about your club which I like very much. Here is a picture of a club which I believe is from Oro Province PNG. Palm wood as yours. I am pretty sure your club is from the PNG and surrounding islands, Bismark Archipelago, Solomon's. What makes my mind up is the lanyard which appears to be stitched bast fibre. This is a common material used in the Melanesian Islands but not so to my knowledge on Amazon clubs. The hole looks like that of a twist drill??

Thanks for the expertise. PNG makes sense as this was from a group of WW2 "bringback" edged weapons, mostly from the P.I. I have couple thonged clubs from the same general group. Are these Filipino or other?
It's impossible to stump the experts on this forum!
Thanks again, I'm learning a lot.
