takouba on stone carving ?

I was looking through Wilfred Thesiger's photos from his "Travels in Arabia" and in Volume 16 "Kuwait, Persia, Kurdistan, Abu Dhabi (1949–50)" there is this picture of a stone carving that has a hilt that to me looks to be in the same form as a takouba. I would love to hear others thoughts on this I did not think this was an area associated with these blades.

An interesting image. Personally I think it would be hard to draw a direct parallel given the rather common profile the takouba has when viewed from the side.

Still, neat find!
