Madura Keris?

12 Attachment(s)
Hello,

My understanding is I got hold of another East Jawa / Madura keris.
Would you please confirm or disprove my assumption?
Is is possible to approximately date it?

The ivory donoriko hilt's style and theme is very similar to the one I posted earlier. The hilt is probably glued in place so I am unable to turn it.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Yes it's Madura Keris, but the hilt is not in ivory but in bone or in antler.

I have to agree that this hilt is not ivory. I think I might go with bone rather than antler due to the black spotting.
I also think, from what I can see on my phone, that this hilt form might better be described as Kojuk Mrenges rather than Donoriko. It is a related, but more slight form, and carries symbols of Dutch heraldry such as the crown and epaulets of European soldiers and was favoured by Madurese soldiers under Dutch rule.
The blade also seems to be Madurese to me with its wispy kembang kacang and somewhat inwardly slanting gandik. Was there any sheath with this one?

It came without a sheath unfortunately.

Yes, Madura blade.

Yes, Kojhuk Marenges.

According to Toni Junus, Kojhuk Marenges translates as:-

"sooty head bul-bul bird cowering in fear"
