Hi all,

I've been contacted by a friendly lurker with this interesting axe, and I'm posting it on his behalf while his request for membership (here) is pending approval.

It seems to be of the type posted by Emanuel in my 'small axes' thread from a while back:

So I'm hoping that we can further investigate these axes for him.
Specificaly useage, and if possible the significance of the decoration. You'll notice the recurring motiff from Emanuels example on this one>

Emmanuel's appear to be side axes; flat on one side and used for carpentry. Is yours a side axe?

Thanks Atlantia for posting this. Yes, it is a side axe. It is completely flat on one side.

No problem buddy.
Hearty welcome to the forums.
Can you tell us a little about your area of study? I take it axes are a theme?
Best

Axes mostly. I find it interesting that most were used for day to day usage, livelihood, etc., but people grabbed what they had for battle, and so often it was an axe. I have found small axes in the oddest places, the strangest being a rummage sale for 25 cents. This latest was given to me by my parents, so it has more than just historical significance to me.

Only historic axes, or current era also?

Like racing axes?
