keris for comment, naga luk-13

This is an example of keris nagasasra ( luk-13 ).
the keris it self looks clean, but the surface iron and pamor looks suspicious.
at the first time I saw this keris, I really thought this is a new piece being threated to look older.
I have a doubt to determine the tangguh.
I hope the picture is good enought.

I must say the gonjo has different material from the blade.
the pamor...I have no idea (wos wutah???)

any information or comment would be appreciated.
Thank you

Thanks Marco,
I've been waiting for a very long time to find a proper nagasasra keris like this one. dhapur nagasasra has become scarce in existance nowdays.
I remember your old thread about your visit to jogja. you've posted some picture of naga keris with a beautiful kinatah work.
I can't afford my self for a kinatah nagasasra ( yet) , so this find would be another nice addition for my collection.

I Hope you guys can show me another pictures of nagasasra keris.
I'm wondering with the shape of the naga's head. I've been told that there are different dhapur naga like nagasasra, rajanaga, naga keras...with the difference on the naga's head characteristic.

Regards,
FERRYLAKI

Hullo Ferrylaki,

Just an observation:

Strictly speaking, Nagasasra means a naga with A THOUSAND scales (from Djawa Koena, Sahasra = a thousand).

Best,

I have one keris not so different from your. Also I have doubts about the age. The keris is rather heavy, naga has a little yakut inside the mouth, pamor is beras wutan, dress is Yogya ladrang (wood I don't know... but is not far from awar awar). IMO i find unusual that in the middle of this keris' blade there is steel ? (or iron?) similar to pamor sanak (?) .
I have no pics of this keris. But i'll try to do some pics next saturday with the light of the day

Marco,
the unusual material in the middle of the keris' blade, is it in the 4th picture?
I also wondering about this. as we can see there is a black iron/steel we usually see in the middle of a keris. but this keris has a little bit white colour on the tip of the centre iron/steel. from the colour I guess its not a pamor material. in the 3rd picture I can also see a similar material. on the WADIDANG section. it do not shows black iron colour as usual. but some sort of white coloured material like pasir malela but its not pamor sanak.

this keris is not heavy in weight. rather light in weight. The naga mouth is wide open and I can find one tiny teeth on each side of the mouth as a fang of the dragon. the other dhapur naga pictures I manage to find usually has something in their mouth. a naga with gold/stone/diamond in the mouth.
so I cant see the tiny teeth inside of the mouth.

FERRYLAKI

Hi Michel

I'm definitely keeping it.
I've been waiting for 1 year for this dhapur.
this naga's tail doesnt seem to have scales. but it runs along the luks so beautifully.
The ganja, It might have been replaced, but this new ganja is a very nice example of ganja wilut, the greneng work were outstanding. I love it a lot.
This is not an exelent example of a nagasasra keris, but it the best example I could find at the moment.

Regarding the scabbard.
Is this what one would call AWAR AWAR as well?
AWAR - AWAR wood is a kind of Timoho pelet wood, right?
