Javanese Keris Info

Dear members

I am new to the forum and I would like to get some informations for a keris I own for two years. I'll make another topic for infos about a tombak.

The infos I have for this keris is that is from Tuban, pamor "Pengayoman". It seems to me that the pamor isn't the same in both sizes. But I'm not an expert of cource.

I would be very happy if you could give me some more details (dapur, etc) or some other opinions.

Any help would be fine!

Thank you in advance

Hi Lei Shen Dao. Welcome. :)

The dapur is Tilam Upih
The pamor looks like Wos Wutah. In picture 3 and 4, there seems to be
a 'wayang' figure in a standing position, (side profile). (Or could be my imagination).

The mendak (hilt ring) does not look proper.
"Pengayoman", in Javanese literally means "protection and succor",
if I'm not wrong. ;)

dear Alam Shah

Thank you for your answer.

Yes the figure that you mentioned (Tiban Keris maybe?) has been obvious to me too about two weeks now. What exactly "wayang" means?

I have seen some pengayoman keris looks identical to mine. But as you said at least the one side seems to be Wos Wutah.
Pengayoman (photos 3,4) means exactly what you described it to be. That I was told.

The mendak....Oh my God, I know it is awful....

Thanks again for your post Alam.

About Dapur and Pamor, I agree with Alam Shah.
In my opinion, that pamor both sides are Wos Wutah. But sorry, I am stiil not find about the figure of wayang on both sides ..:)

@ thread starter
Wayang is puppet. In Indoenesia especially in Jawa wayang is so famous. The famous one is shadow puppet.I like wyang so much hehehe.
In my life I never heard about kind of pamoor which called " pangayoman ".
I think "pangayoman" is the function of pamor ( magical power ).

Sorry if I make mistake, please another members correct me.

Thank you very much Satria

Mmmm, I see. So the pamor is was wutah and the power inside is pengayoman maybe. In a Google search I've done some days ago, I found something for Pengayoman in a Keris or Inonesian site but I couldn't read it because of the language. Don't get me wrong about the tuah matter, but I have my reasons.

So, a keris may have the power of the pamor (luck etc, for was wutah) and maybe an extra power for the owner that ordered it (Pengayoman)...

Of cource I can't see resemblances with Jor_El's keris, but I am not an expert.

Satria, it seems like wayang (thanks for the infos about that) in photos 3,4. Near the gandik (I hope I say it correct) and ganja, it seems like a "dervish" with hands above his head and a dress clothes. Of cource could be my imagination, but it is interesting that Alam saw something like that too.

Sorry for the many questions, but keris is a very complicated subject at least to me.

Thank you for your time :)
