Badik: West Java

Another one of my latest blades at home
It is from Cianjur Kulon, West Java, from known provenance.
The blade is covered by thick fragrant oil. It is similar to most of my blades that come from persons who held it in their possession for a very long time as their heirlooms.
I am really grateful since it is relatively complete and in original sheath and handle.
The handle is made of water buffalo horn. The sheath is from wood in really interesting construction.
It is a very long badik ~28cm in length.

Wiloedjeng. Pangésto.
Your question is hard to answer, requiring research.
It depends on when the badi was first adopted/adapted by the Soenda. Then, one has to reconcile that with the geo-political situation at the time.

Best,
