Trying to find a thread

I have spent hours trawling for an old thread and no amount f key word searches I am using can locate it.
It was an old Chinese sabre with a carved horn handle in Panay like fashion.
If someone can point me to the link or the owner to discuss the sword it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Gavin

FOUND IT

Does anyone here own this sword? I'd like to know the dimensions and some other bits as the previous discussion is closed.

That sword reminds me of a sword I saw in a book earlier today. (See attached pics, pg 205 in 中国古代钢铁冷兵器巡礼 (Cold Steel in Ancient China - Iron and Steel Parade).) As far as I can tell, this one is Chinese. There's no text for many pages nearby, so (not reading Chinese) I can't find the relevant text in the book.

The sword you are asking about above looks Chinese. Chinese blade, Chinese guard. Not a typical Chinese hilt, but I don't see why it might not be Chinese as well.

Thanks Timo,

Thank you for reminding of this book, mine is in storage for a couple more months yet.

I am not yet convinced that these are "pure" Chinese swords though. I think they are a minority in SEA.

There are other types known too, all with a common type hilt of varying degrees of quality.

I believe this to be one of the types too;

I had a very nice hand chopper with a carved timber figure much like these to, I think it lays with Josh now.

When home tonight, I'll post images of another that passed by today, a similar it on an EU blade and sheath.
