Burmese Dha sword, silver handle ?

3 Attachment(s)
Hello everybody,
I got this asian dha,
I think it comes from Burma or Thailand
but I wonder about the handle. made of silver ?

The same with the blade ? Recent copy or can it be an old one ?
( I found on the net informations about dha blades with this pattern but the rest seems antique too, here, the wooden scabbard and the fittings seems really recent...)

What do you think ?
Thank you

Hello Francantolin,

sadly I have to tell you that it is a rather recent, second half of 20th century, "tourist" dha, handle is white metal (aluminium?), the blades are not bad but not nice to look on. Scabbard bands are poorly worked.

Regards,
Detlef

Hi francantolin:

I have to agree with Detlef. There are a fair number of these around. They are made for the tourist trade primarily.

Ian.

Hello and Thank you Ian and Detlef !

Just the blade looked not that bad for me
but it didn't either look like a damas or a pamor...
that's why I didn't bet that much...pfiou

Copy, copy copy !

Kind regards

Francantolin
