Hi guys,

I just cleanned the barrell of a ball butt pistol and I found a lot of powder and a small piece of folded paper at the end. Now it's possible to see the light!
Unfortunatly I don't have the lock yet. The stock needs some work too...
I add this link about ball butt pistols.

Hi Kubur.
Nice find. AND A PARTIAL LOAD IN THE BARREL !!! Please save the powder (and dirt) and wad from the barrel in a thick plastic bag or similar container. Very neat!!
I've always had a problem trying to pinpoint where these pistols were likely made. There is a distinctive cross culture, but a definate pattern. And they were all made without a trigger guard. And the style is too unique to have been made at one of the large gun making centers like the typical horse pistols we are familiar with. The ball but has definate Caucasian influence. And the barrel looks fairly common Balkan made. It will be nice to see the lock when you receive it. The lock mortise indicates a French style flintlock. But the stock decoration looks.......well, I don't know.
In any case, it sure is a neat looking pistol. Should restore nicely. Congrats on finding this one. Please post when the lock arrives.
Rick.
