Maybe we can focus on the historical objects that where made for traditional use on Nias.
Exhibiting modern forgeries and/or imitations does not add much to this thread. :shrug:

A nice suggestion but as this is a keris thread we are not allowed to do that.
And as we have seen that Nias kerisses are as scarce as bad Dutch soccerplayers, I think this thread is almost completed.... :D

I pretty much agree with that. I think this thread needs keris content soon or it's pretty much done.

The rarity of such keris (if any), makes it difficult to do so.
Unless/until someone have a piece to debunk our current opinions.

Gentlemen....when we first set up this forum a while back Rick and i discussed long and hard about what would be acceptable subject matter for discussion here. We decided that this would be a place solely for the discussion of keris. Even other Tosan aji like tombak is to be discussed in the main forum.

Alam Shah, Very interesting! This one seems to be bigger than the other examples.

Were these solely ceremonial or were these used, say, like a keris in terms of a dagger? What of the big ones? maybe they were also used like Kris Sundang depending on the size. Perhaps if they are ceremonial/ornamental then not at all. :shrug:


Either way, this is a very interesting development. This is a very great thread. Thanks to all who have contributed. I am not very familiar with Nias culture or blades (much less the rest of indonesia which I am still learning of!)
