I normally stay away from these things, because even the WWII bringbacks, are usually very tourista, and cheesy looking. This one caught my eye because of it's size, and wrapped handle. Looked like a "using" one. The price was a plus also! :p Dark areas on the blade appear to be tree sap, so that answers the "using" part. No dammage that I can see, other than a couple of splits in the scabbard. Looks like it had a heavy wire in the scabbard bolster, for carry purposes. So, is this a "real" one, or just a larger than average tourista model, that Grandpa used to clear a thicket with? Also, what ethnic group(s) would have used these? Thanks in advance, M.P. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=260377360417

Looks like a good one to me but I think you paid too much. :D Looking forward to seeing more pictures after you receive it.

These are usually from Cebu and this one looks like just prior to WWII. A good example.

I think Battara is right on....this one is of considerably better quality than most of the WW2 and after examples.
