A friend of mine has this very nice hilt. I tried to convince him that it really should be mine but he is not convinced at all....
Anyway I think it is gayo and based on the kris disc of Jensen of a higher ranking person with a number of stars engraved.
It is ivory with a very dark patina.
Would like to hear your opinions on the region and possibly age?
Regards, Erik

Hello Eric, it seems to be a Gayo hilt and a very nice one for my opnion.
It is very difficult to estimate a age (very old hilts can look relative new because not often handled, relative new ones can look old because often handled) of a hilt but this one seems to have a good age, minimum 100 years probably moore.

I agree, probably much older. Sometimes patina comes also from the place where the the hit (or other object) is put: for example on a wall near the smoke where people cook food.
Also the lines of craks (mainly the cracks at the base of the hit) can give hints about the age: it seems that concentric lines born after radial lines (more than 300 years)
