Hi Ben,
Can you make some additionalpictures of the spearhead ?
It is a very unusual spearhead shape, both for Borneo as for Indonesia.
Best regards,
Willem

CONGRADULATIONS ON A VERY INTERESTING AND RARE ITEM.
I WOULD CLASSIFY IT AS A PRESTIGE, CEREMONIAL OR SYMBOL OF RANK ITEM FIRST AND A SPEAR SECONDARY. THE CARVED HEADS REMIND ME OF BATAK DECORATION, THERE IS DAYAK DESIGN ALSO AND THE FANCY CHIP CARVING AND COLUMN STYLE CARVING I CAN'T PLACE  THE FINAL REMINDS ME OF A LOTUS BUD FORM SEEN IN INDIA, CHINA ECT. ,SO IT STRIKES ME AS A VARIETY OF CARVING FORMS. THE SPEAR POINT IS A VERY UNUSUAL FORM ALSO AND APPEARS TO BE OF VERY HIGH QUALITY, IT MAY BE EASIER TO PIN DOWN AS TO ORIGIN THAN THE CARVEING STYLES.
I HOPE YOU CAN GET SOME GOOD INFORMATION FROM THE MUSEUM ON THIS MOST INTERESTING ITEM. GOOD LUCK

What's unusual with this West Kalimantan spear is that they usually have a harpoon-like spearpoint, either single or double (like an inverted V).
I look forward to additional pictures as well as the provenance etc.

Hi all thanks
Hi Michael it also looks that it has rare metal below the spearpoint.
Yes the rare form that is strange about this piece the metal around it is bound the same way you can find by pakayuns some mandau s.
The only thing at the moment that I now that it was collected before 1900.
Did you ever see that big spearpoint in Kopenhagen from Steen I never see an piece like that again .
Hi Vandoo the carving style is Dayak very old style I will try to make better pics off the carving and from the Juynboll book from 1910 Borneo Rijks etnografish museum

Michael, would you qualify these spears as Borneo ?

Willem, those rare spears I would guess are from Sulawesi.
It's not the kind of spearpoint I had in mind. I was more trying to describe
the one resembling those, more arrowlike, also found on Luzon spears.
A while ago Ashoka had some Borneo spears, from the T Møller collection,
with those kind of spearpoints.
Ben, yes I usually take a look at Steen's unique spearpoint whenever I visit him.
Look forward to see more of yours.

Hi Michael here are some pics.
I did call today the conservator off the museum and next year when he have time he will give any information he can find.
Yes the rare thing is the spearpoint but there are only a few spears off these
so they take those as example one from Leiden and one from the British museum so difficult to see more off this stuff to compare because they very rare even in the museum's .
enjoy the pics .
