This one was an Ebay find that turned out to be a nice surprise after a polish. It is nothing extraordinary, but the blade chieselling in snake, dragon, or naga form is unusual, as is the blade composition.
While silver inlay is not so unusual, and is even often added to newer pieces, based on the condition of this one when found(blade completely rusted over, and hilt wrap dry rotted), I do not think it is a later addition and, indeed, seems to compliment the naga motif.
The the nicely detailed gangya is separate pieces, but very tight, and the silver inlays ignore it.
This is a large and unusually heavy kriss. I am thinking it dates to the early 20th Century.

Nice Kris.
What are it's dimensions? I have one that looks similar to yours. It's huge and heavy , haven't bathed it in etchant. If it gets warmer here in the PNW, maybe I will try to see if I get lucky and get a pattern.
Congrats!

Hullo everybody,
I would generally agree with this. I have two similar. A lesser one, which was around when Pershing was installed as a Datu in the Lanao area and a greater one, which is a bit older.
