Espada de caballeria de linea ... not in the best of conditions :shrug: .
Model 1803 ... also (wrongly) called 1799.
A basket hilt pattern already in use since 176X. Grip with thumb ring. Straight (non fullered) blade 85 cms.; double edged in the last section.
... Having traces of inscriptions in one side of the blade: R Cs IV and in the other Ca. D La. 1807.
Obviously an old warrior ... showing signs of battles against men and also against (wood and leather) grip rotting :shrug: .
Anyone here with one in better condition?

That's the dragoon's version, known as a "dragonera". The mentioned letters stand for Caballeria de Linea, or Line Cavalry.

There was also an infantry version sans the thumb hook, and I also believe the guard was less roundish...

They are now making copies of it for reenacting purposes.
