i found these realy beautifull sword by my search in the www.
maybe someone would like tell more over these sword.
i beginn with the descr...
"Museum Quality India Firangi
18th c Firangi, most likely made for Royalty. Finest quality sword I've ever had the privelage to hold. Thick gold koftgari floral decoration over the entire hilt. Exceptional condition for it's age. Only small losses of koftgari. (shown in photos) Unmarked blade is still extremely sharp. Padding appears to have been replaced during the mid-late 19th century. Grip wire appears to be a mixture of silver and senew and is original to the sword. A similiar item was sold at auction for $40,000. Blade is 34.75 inches long."

My paranoia is in full swing: only the very tip of the pommel's projection shows minimal losses to the koftgari. The rest is pristine, including the color-matched padding. The blade was extensively cleaned( good job!) even within the curlicues of the retaining plate. Again, nary a scratch on the koftgari. And the rivet is kind of crude....A suspicious person could imagine that the old blade was cleaned first and then "married" to the newly-decorated handle or that the koftgari was done on a previously plain handle.
OK, perhaps it is 18th century! Must have been stored in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment: a usual practice of the Indian arsenals

I agree with Ariel. The handle just looks too good. Too unworn. Old blade and recent handle.
$12,500?

Hi Guys,
In my opinion the handle is not 'recent' , the koftgari design resembles a mughal design.
Intact condition doesn't means it is recent.

Dear Sandeeep,
I value your opinion since you are selling quite a lot of newly-made Indian swords and newly-decorated handles.

No, i don't think that is the point.
I could swear i saw this piece some time ago in a commercial website. I even emailed the pictures to a (well qualified) member of this Forum, for his apreciation. It can only be the same.
Perhaps dralin23 can post such site link ?

yes fernando, i found these sword offert at an commercial web site and i never thought that it is forbidden to discuss such offerts in these forum. i think these forum with all his members is an good unity for all to ask before you make an expansiv mistake.( i know every collector from us pay some hard worked money for his dream from an great sword ore knife ore what else) but no one must pay his money for storys ore maybe for fake swords. from every sword tell you the seller an great story and an collector say some time to me " these story is the most expansiv part from every sword". i know he told me the truth. if i ask the forum members in these forum because these sword than is it nothing unlawfull for me. we all learn with these question and maybe these sword find at this way an intrested collector...

This above beautiful khanda is genuine and currently offered for sale by the very respectable owner.
The $40,000 reference you refer to on a similar sword was at the Tipu auction sale where two multi-millionaires bid way over a swords realistic value in a bidders war of machoism. Will be a long, long time before that happens again......
This firanghi sword being discussed is currently offered for sale......
