Well, for reasons that I do not fathom, I am posting something, once again, that is wide of my interests. It is, however, fun.:D

This is a Model 1842 Percussion Navy Pistol (Boarding Pistol) in .54 caliber manufactured by Ames when they were in Springfield Mass. It is dated 1843 and is inspection marked by Joseph C. Bragg (JCB).

The piece is in quite nice shape with some wear to the tinning on the trigger guard.

I had two very nice boarding cutlasses also made by Ames that were contemporanious with this weapon. I very cleverly sold, not one (so I would have an example) but two. Yup, sold 'em both.

Jerk. Bet no one else here ever sold something that they later regretted.

Its a lovely pistol mate! As for selling the swords... Thats life, I also wish I'd kept lots of nice arms I've had over the years, but the upside is, there are always lots more beautiful things to own whenever you've got a little spare cash, and every one you have for a while and sell.. well you just become part of its story, its all good buddy!

And now, as it is not fun to have the pistol without the matching cutlasses, if you happen to get rid of it, count me in ;)
