Trabzon Surmene...
And a very nice one!
These knives had the most intricate system of fullers. The handle looks particularly nice and the suspension belt is a rarity. And look at the weave of leather straps at the top of the scabbard: doesn't it look just like Laz Bicagi?
Lew, I was always very happy about you limiting yourself to African stuff ( because I do not collect them); why did you decide to cross the border? Looking for a fight, infidel invader? :D
Well, on the other hand, I am glad you finally saw the light! Enjoy!

It is much longer than the typical Trabzon but there is no question for the origin. Enjoy it

Hi Lew,
Nice dagger, I've developed a bit of a soft spot for these pieces, I really like the method used of attaching the strap to the sheath on your example.
Regards,
Norman.

Hi Tim
It set me back about three weeks of fish and chips but I needed to cut back on my fatty foods anyway ;) :D

The dagger arrived today. :) I cleaned off the active rust with some 0000 steel wool and rubbed a drop of oil into the horn hilt to revive it. Everything is tight and the leather is still soft and flexible. I notice some layered effect in the steel probably some type of simple pattern welded stuff? I am a very happy camper. :D
