I won this small Tiv loop dagger on ebay today :D . The seller thought it was Indian  anyway I think it will clean up nicely. Funny I have never seen a scabbard for one of these before. Anyone ever come across one with a scabbard?

Very nice. Beautiful shaped blade. I was was watching this one too. I only had one bolt left which I shot earlier. It would not have been able to go quite that high. I will have to build up more ammunition over the coming months.

Thanks Artzi! So looking at the scabbard are these loop daggers worn on the upper arm as in the Sudan daggers or is that a belt loop on this example?

It seems to be a belt loop to me now that I had a good long look at it.

My only piece from the Tiv culture. About 14", wood. Tiv pieces are quite rare in the artifact collecting arena. Got this at an estate sale of a major African collector. Another collector was looking at it, when he turned away, I grabbed it and took it to the cashier......:D :D

I am always amazed by how cheap African weapons are in comparison to the artifacts, (unless you deal with that California dealer who "buys weapon and sells art!")

Lew, if you get tired of that dagger..... :)

The dagger arrived the other day. Here are a few pics with another one in my collection the newer addition seems more stylized the other more of a get down to business piece.
