Not my comments, but with so many members using eBay, I thought I'd post this link. If you read it you will quite disappointed to find that eBay are doing little to prevent this ...and actively seem to be suppressing the information ...which would help buyers from being ripped off

If it helps prevents one member suffering a fraudulent transaction ....it was worth posting it.

Good points, David.
I look at sellers' FB by checking items they sold. You can check, all FB, Sold FB or Purchased FB. This give a better picture.
I have
7 FB as a seller
1000 as a buyer
1597 overall, including people I bought from more than once
I have been a member since 2001.
Ebay also only counts one FB per seller. I think this is changing. I like Paypal. I have heard some nightmares, but they have been good to me.
We all know some of the horror stories about sending wire transfers, Western Union, etc. Ebay has a lot of flaws but I have only been screwed twice in 1597 transactions. Not too bad a track record.
But I have been hit with a lot of recent fake emails that appeared to come from eBay and didn't. People opening disputes against me for unpaid items. People I never bid with. People telling me that they were opening a dispute becasue I they paid me and I didn't ship. Alos people I never heard of.
They include a link that I never click on.
I just forward to spoof@ebay.com and I get nice letters from eBay saying that these were "Spoof" or "Phishing" emails and thanking me for letting them know and "appropriate action" was being taken.
A friend forwards the following picture every time he can, including the Nigerian money scams.Says he gets some really funny replies complaining about how they are so hurt by his picture.

Ah the old curse of Cthulhu. That should get them. Sending a fictional Lovecraft character against the Nigerians is a great tactic.
