This book is one of the most important reguarding Mamluk arms and displays some early Islamic arms not yet published in any other publication making it a must have for anyone interested in mamluk arms of the period. With the references fro this book you can start to get a grasp on the style of art used on arms and its progression, giving you an little perspective on dating via art design used.
The English edition that was originally due out in February is now scheduled for Fall, Bashir Mohammad (the author) had some English versions printed that were given to friends and not offered for public sale so the translation for it was done long ago.
Price seems to be lower in Europe but you will need to be able to order from a French language web site.

Thanks Rand.
The book looks great and the price seems reasonable for something of this quality. But I'll wait for the English version.

The bits and pieces I got from the French edition are first rate. The bibliography is awesome and the pics are superb.
I just WISH I was right and there are indeed 2 books planned: one of Furussiya Foundation and another, general, on Islamic Arms and Armor (as per Bookfinder).
Even though there are some excellent books on particular cultures( Turkey, Caucasus, Arabia, India) there is no good source on Persia and no "unifying" treatise.

Nothing against Persian arms. As to books about Persian arms.. "Orez Perski" is quite good, as a matter of fact.
