WOW  I'm sure someone made a very good off auction offer on this to stop it from continuing. Hope pictures will be posted later.

From what I can see on my blackberry, this looks looks like a Maguindanao kris with a junggayan pommel (nose broken off). I think it is from the turn of the centuy or a little later. It seems to me that the scabbard maybe a little later and even the grip. If truly silvered brass, the silver should be thicker.

I like this piece (http://cgi.ebay.com/Keris-Sundang-or-Keris-Moro_W0QQitemZ120213706728QQihZ002QQcategoryZ135QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) better. Likely sold in the same manner. Congratulations if any of you is the new master.

Now this one is more honest and complete, althouigh the grip on this other one is also a later rewrap from what I can see.

I agree with Jose. The one Ariel posted had a broken junggayan and i seriously doubt it or the hilt were original to the blade. The whole thing looked pieced together for sale. The last one looks much more original, though not one of the more elaborate junggayan it is still a very nice and complete ivory kakatau. :)

Agreeing with Jose and others. The one Ariel posted is a "time composite"... 1.not so old sheath....2.older hilt, likely "rebuilt" in it is life...3.and probably an even older blade. I do think the metal work on the hilt is better then often seen, certainly better then modern day P.I. attempts to mimic it.
The other one is a much more "pure" example, if not as spectacular.
