Recently got this knife. Sold as Scandinavian (which I doubt). Any idea
as to where it is from. The wood has an oak type grain and the back
of the sheath is a sheet of solid brass. Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Rich

I HAVE NO IDEA ON THIS ONE BUT WILL MAKE AN OBSERVATION BECAUSE IT IS A DRAG NOT TO GET ANY REPLYS TO A POST. :D
THE 3 POMMEL DECORATIONS REMIND ME OF THOSE FOUND ON THE KNIVES FROM SOMALIA. FROM THE PICTURES THE KNIFE LOOKS VERY RECENT SO PERHAPS IT IS A NEW FORM OF KNIFE MADE ELSEWHERE AND SENT TO SOMALIA OR PERHAPS A MAKER IN ANOTHER COUNTRY BORROWED THAT FEATURE FOR HIS KNIVES  ? GOOD LUCK

Thanks, from other knife forums, I got most likely India or Pakistan,
very recently made (figured that :-). Whatever, it isn't Scandinavian
that is for certain.

Rich,

It is very hard to judge this knife from the pictures.

I have no idea about the quality of the blade, but I do remember seeing those pommel decorations on scandinavian knives. Unfortunately I have no references for it.

Pointing to India or Pakistan is maybe a little bit too easy.

Something about this reminds me of those knives shaped in a similar way but often with a horn handle, decorated with inlay coloured discs of various materials form Syria and there abouts. The shape of the scabbard and handle seem to me very similar indeed as is blade.
