Thought I would share a new Ottoman buckler I got from our very own CharlesS - I think it is the best condition I have ever seen.

Any thoughts on who,where,when on this one? Its really a nice piece but I'm curious as don't see many shields here.

I believe that the Janissaries used these type of bucklers especially for close hand to hand combat (like with a yataghan).

That really is a nice piece, and I really like the metalwork, definitely would look good in a display of those weapons.
