Hello Bill,

Yes, staining, staining, staining! :D

I still have my reservations to call these assimilated pieces from non-Moro sources kris...

How long is the blade? It would be nice to verify wether the blade was forged in the Visayas or wether a captured/traded Moro blade got recycled - maybe the laminations could help short of examining the tang and base of blade?

Regards,
Kai

Hi Kai,

The blade is 22 inches long.

I still don't like pulling these pieces apart to view tangs.

Let me get out my vinegar and work on this and the Ox-Tail. Also have a really interesting horn jungayyan twistcore kris that badly needs a stain. And some pictures!

Hello Bill,

Ok, that's well within reach for a shortened Moro kris, at least from many Mindanao pieces. That's not meant to imply that the Visayan bladesmiths weren't able to forge these blades themselves!

I'd love to hear from our forumites with Visayan connections wether there are any hints which would help to verify local production of a blade like this.

BTW, the demon also looks a little different - almost smiling, this one.

Understood. ;)
