Hi All

What would be the best material for wrapping a pesi before attaching the hilt? I have used silk but find it a bit slippery.

Hi Lew,

I usually use cotton cloth and sometimes wool. Wool can be pressed together so the change of a cracked ukiran is less. But best is testing and if necesarry add something more for a proper fit.

Hello Lew,

Threads from synthetic wool have the advantage that they don't attract/store moisture and are as gentle on the hilts as wool if fitted with a little care...

I once received the advise to put some wax (furniture-wax/bees-wax) on the wrapping, in order to avoid it taking up moisture and thus expanding.

That was advised in combination with hemp - wire.
The hemp wire adsorbs the wax, but still has a rough texture.

Good luck !

Hi All

What works for me is some old batik cloth.
use an small band (1 or 1.5 cm wide) Twist the batikband around the peksi till it fits the handle.(not to firm)
Keep in mind to rotate the handle in the same direction like u did the batikband.(cw)
When you dismount the handle use the same rotation.(cw)
