Expanding my collection to the Maghreb. Bad pictures, but it looks very rustic so I assume it's not a tourist piece. I will post better pictures when I get it.

That's not a flyssa, THIS is a flyssa

the distinctive zoomorphic brass covered wood grip and brass inlaid and engraved blades are diagnostic. they do seem to come in variable lengths. i even have a curved one.

there are a few SE Asian blades of very much the same shape but with different grips....like the kalasan

still, yours looks like a nice blade, must post better photos when you get it.

Maybe not a flyssa, but I recognize that diamond pattern on the hilt from a lot of North African items so I will wait and see before I pay up. What did I bet anyway, my credibility?

LOL!!!!:)
Ok Kronckew! 'crocodylus Dundee' !! the mythical Australian warrior, and flyssas from the wilds of Ohio !!! JUDL!! You're outstanding :)
I agree this is from the Philippines and probably Luzon or northern regions, if not mistaken these are termed 'talibon'. I always thought that it was very interesting that these had the same deep bellied blade and needle point as the flyssa. More support for the strong trade ties between Philippines and the Maghreb via the Spanish.
All best regards,
Jim
