Just received this sword and need help with origin and possible age. I believe it to be from the Philippines but not sure. Grip is wood, guard is steel, ferrel is brass with solder joint and pommel I believe is some sort of bone. Blade is diamond section with an oval hole going through it 4" in front of the guard. All help welcomed.
Length 26-1/4"
Blade length 21-1/4"
Hilt 5"
Blade width at widest 1-5/8"
Blade thickness 1/4"

Yeah, it's looking pretty PI Luzon to me too. What's with the hole in the blade?

Battara,
I have know idea what the hole is about. It looks like it has been there since the blade was made. Could it have been filled with brass of some other metal that has fallen out?

We both bid on that one. :) Glad if I didn't get it, you did. I figured PI too. What ever it is, it's long, pointy, and sweet!

Steve,
Thank you for your response. I'm still trying to figure out what the pommel is made from. It has a translucent quality when held to light, maybe a light colored horn? Any comments on the hole in the blade or what its purpose was? It has definitely been there since the blade was forged.

Robert and Steve:
This does look PI work. I think this long bladed knife is modeled after the style of knives from Albacete in Spain during the late 19th C. Marc could likely provide more details.
