I picked up this axe in a group lot. Seems old and European so hoping to narrow it down a bit more with some expert help in this section of the forum. Thanks!

That bend of the haft is very Scandawegian. Probably Norwegian.;)

Yes, I see what you mean about the shaft, if original, but perhaps the head is on in reverse. The curve was used to assist a cutting action after the blow, so the curve puts the blade forward not tucks it in.
My understanding is that the T shaped head was used in many places and the form dates back to the middle ages.
