Relic lock that was found in the wilds of Quebec Canada. Only markings I can make out are on the back of the bronze / brass pan. Lock plate is 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) long.
Likely of French origin.
Any information is appreciated and thanks in advance

thank you

As is to be easily seen the lockplate is a flat one and has a brass pan. This shows that it cannot be a French lock. French locks after 1763 used to have rounded lockplates and the flat French lockplates before 1763 never had brass pans. So France is in contradiction to the opinions of readers in Trump country completely out! What it could be is a Swedish Infanterie-gun M 1738. This gun had a flat lock with a flat cock and a brass pan.
