A long time ago I bought an axe that I thought might be a beheading axe. There were a couple of things about it that made me wonder and when I finally saw old St. Joseph using one to make an outhouse the scales fell from my eyes.

In any event I recently came across this axe. It is big and heavy, the blade is 10+ inches and the length from blade to socket is 21 inches. The makers name is "A. Jullie" there is the word "Delave" above.

Thoughts?

A French tool for cleaning out cider and wine presses called a coupe marc. These are widely misrepresented by dealers and even in museums as beheading axes.

I am examining this thing. How in the world would one use it?
