Hi Everyone.

Requesting your expertise on this jezail, on whether it is authentic, and all-original.

It weighs 3.266 kg. and is 125.5 cm. in length, approximately. Hope the photos are clear enough.

Thank you very much.

It is very hard to say wether it is original old or newly made as there are lots of handymen in Afghanistan producing many of this
type of gun

Thank you very much Corrado 26 for your reply. That fact is what makes me insecure about it, though I had it for about two decades. I only learned about these 'brand new antiques' quite recently.

Just some observations regarding your Jezail, particularly the lock.
The upside down RRRs are not what one would expect to find on a "genuine" jezail. Also the cock is clearly hand made and very poorly IMHO. Your photos do not show the pan interior. The touch hole should line up perfectly with the bottom of the pan. If it does not, then it is likely that the barrel and lock have been mis matched. Does the lock function OK and create a spark?
Having said all that it is IMHO still worth keeping as an example of Afghani back street gunmaking.
There is another recent Post showing a similar gun http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=30433

Unfortunately it is a tourist item. File marks on the lock, crude trigger and trigger guard, and and unusually large hole on the barrel are the usual give aways. On a positive note someone hand built that.
