Dear members,
I just received this persian khanjar,
A large example of better quality than the ones I saw already. 19th century ??
Length is 50cm / 19,7 inches
The blade can be wootz.
For share and for comments
Kind regards

Lovely knife. I'd like to see the entire exposed blade/hilt if you have the opportunity to provide.

Yes, Persian 19th century almost certainly wootz. It could benefit from revealing the wootz structure.
It could also be Mughal (the Moghuls were Persians).

Here a complete picture of the dagger,
Thank you Marius,
I will try to etch it to see how it looks like .
I'm impressed with the scabbard and hilt too,
the iron/steel seems hand
carved /embossed and not cast or ' pressed''
+ nice gold koftgari on it

To me, that doesn't look like koftgari but more like true damascening.
Be very careful when polishing the blade for etching! Avoid polishing the carved areas. Do polish to 2000-3000 grit and do not try to remove any pitting as it does not impact the end result too much.
Lovely dagger! 👍
