I got a little lucky at a local show last weekend and I picked up this gun(as well as a couple of other things), and I was wondering where it was from. The arsenal marks might be an indication if anyone recognizes them.

neither miquelet nor jezail, but a snaphaunce from North Africa. I dont know exactly what this is called, i dont think Moukhala or Kabyle but some others more versed will come in. Congrats on the acquisition

It is a Moroccan gun, known as "altit" based on the shape of the buttstock.

Yes a Moroccan musket of the Altit type. These are from the Little Atlas Mountains Region.

Hi All,

The Taureg are known as the blue men of the Atlas Mountains and the decoration on the barrel breach appears to be the Taureg four corners of the desert design.

Sincerely,
RobT
