I live on Hadrian's Wall and travel half its length two or three times a week but I've never found any swords.:mad:

No pawing over old maps of garrison sites and potential conflict zones, followed by long discreet metal detector walks....

I always smile when I hear Hadrian mentioned, my mind floats back to Fawlty Towers and O'Reilly.

Some (freelance) strategy is to keep updated with new archelogical sites and their perimeters and scan the ground close from their boundaries; before findings pop up in 'breaking news' and site perimeters are extended.
