I got offered a very long sword with a total length of 1250 mm and a weight of 1440 g. The bar on the terz side has come loose on the hand bar due to a poor welded connection. The blade width below the ricasso is 35 mm. Could this be a piece of historicism? The mark on the blade is unknown to me.

Hello,

A very nice antique replica in my opinion.

The bar in the hilt shouldn't be welded or connected after forging.
The fuller looks off
Steel looks soft
Overall shape of the blade is off
The ricasso and the overlap to the cutting edge are off

Could you also post a picture of the tip, upper part of the blade and bottom/pommel?

Kind regards

Thank you for the additional pictures.

Looks like the pommel was shaped and filed after mounting. Not a good sign either.

It's sure not made for battle, and too many signs of modern metalworking techniques.

But still a pretty nice sword and made with a lot of effort.

Rather interesting note. I dont recall ever seen that being done.

The note is too interesting. After looking carefully, it looks punched to fill the gaps.

No filing.
