Seeking an i.d on this Indonesian short sword please. Twistcore blade, scabbard collar of woven gold thread. Hilt of horn. The sword is very finely forged with a lovely distal taper to a fine point and is very light. 37cm blade length. The foot of the scabbard is horn. Thanks

A very unusual type. Hilt and shape wise, I would consider it being made in Lombok. The blade shows a typical 'Turkish ribbon' pattern, to me only seen in Yataghan leaf shaped blades and rarely on Indian swords. I never encountered it on Indonesian blades before, there might be an Islamic link with the Turkish style and Lombok.

Hello Sid,
Agree with Peter, Lombok or Bali for the origin. Similar handles I know from betel pestle handles. Beautiful blade!

Certainly has eye appeal; but is it a Dealer's combination of various pieces from other ethno items?

It's not a marriage or anything shonky like that in my view.
