And here a Bali keris which found its way to my collection a few month ago. Also this blade received a new stain.

Detlef, it is not that these keris you have shown are something less than good, I believe it is because they are something better than good. All the keris are good examples of their type & in good condition.
What is there to say except "Thank you for permitting us to see them".

Thank you Alan! I think it was more because I was showing the keris Kamardikan and the Central Java keris at the same time and these other keris went under a bit as a result. But it would have been nice to have received one or two comments on these other keris! ;) But anyway, it was my enjoy to show them here.

Sorry Detlef, but i have to admit this one got past me. Not sure exactly how.
So allow me to just say "Thank you for permitting us to see them". LOL! ;)
Seriously though, nice ensemble. I really enjoy the the use of alternating wood patterns in the dress.
Did you do the warangan yourself?

Thank you David for the comment! ;)
The warangan was done from a man in the Netherlands, interestingly not with arsenic but with realgar.

Well, ultimately realgar IS arsenic, isn't it?

Yes, it is but my own attempts with realgar etching haven't been very successful. I gave away my arsen when my first child was born.

Yes, i have never used it, but my understanding is that realgar is not at all consistent in its quality. Shame you felt the need to get rid if your arsenic supply. I would have thought a good lock box or safe might have solved your problem there.

Agree in both points! But my wife has played a great part by this decision to that time. Now my children are accrued and I regret it a little bit. :(

This is not unlike the officer's katana my dad had returned with from the Pacific after WWII that my mom made him get rid of when we kids were born. Not so much my dad's regret as my own.

It is such a lovely keris that I would love to have it if you ever get bored of it!
Nice warangan job too. Realgar seems to give a subtler stain it seems but even more alluring to my eyes.

Hi
You stained it yourself using warangan? Orelse what did you use for staining if warangan is not available. I got similar blade which I want to try staining it with home vinegar. I have no access to warangan.

Hi Anthony,
No, it was stained by a man in the Netherlands with realgar warangan. My own attempt to etch with realgar was nor really successful.
