This is an interesting slightly different Talibon sword; it has a heavy 19" blade that measures 3/8" thick on the base of the spine. The braided cloth lanyard on the handle, for a secure grip, is a little unusual as well.
The other sword is a stranger to me. It looks like a repurposed European or a local imitation of a European blade, with an appropriated handle, which may of one time had a guard.

Upon further investigation, I believe that the sword with the "monster pommel," is not Visayan, but rather a Bicol sword with a repurposed Minasbad handle; note the holes where it once housed a guard as well as the "demon head."

Good call, Chris - I did not look carefully enough!
Considering the variety of Bicol sword blades, what's the likelihood of this blade also originating from Bicol?
Regards,
Kai

It had been suggested by another forum member that the blade was a modified kris, however, my theory is that it was a repurposed Colonial blade or a locally produced one to look like a European sword; note the crude fuller on the top of the blade.
