Comparing this with Fig.62 in Cato's Moro Swords I come to the conclusion that it's a variation on the Naga motif .
A very nice acquisition ; congratulations !!

I just saw this on your site (grumble, grumble, envy, envy :mad: ). Nice piece, I would guess middle of 19thc especially due to the carving.

Agree with Rick. A rare Naga variant hilt on a blade that shows a lot of lamination with a pretty etch. Lovely piece. Thanks for showing us this one Artzi.

When you think about moving this one on, well ... you know ... call ...
