not an antique but I hope its okay if post it here, I could use some help figuring this one out. its the most substantial knife I have ever had. its very solid. After I purchased this one at a garage sale, I got rid of a few similar ones I owned that were small in comparison. research has not turned up anything similar. what's with the pattern? could this thing be special? like is this a collector piece that shouldn't see use? my camera at the time didn't get a good photo of the markings, I will try to photo it again. can anyone give or direct me to some info on this knife thanks

Solingen. Likely no earlier than the 1950s. Not a U.S. Marbles clone but the pattern seems to draw from some of their knives. It is similar to the 'shark' knives (mk 1 and similar) and the 225Q knives of WWII, both of which had leather washer grips.

The blade may have been re-profiled with a point break and that would attest to it seeming extra sturdy in the point.

hi thanks for the info, and thanks for the help with the directions to more resources, I will add that the length of blade is 6 inches, almost 11 inch total with handle, width is 1& 1/2 inches. the sturdiness of the blade I observed is in its thickness, its 1/2cm thick or almost 1/4 inch thick. way more thicker, and in that way more solid then any other knives I had
