When looking for a quick quide on what I might have
I use Lew's collection as my first point of reference
http://vikingsword.com/lew/archive.html
I never communicated with this man but whenever I browse his collection I do reflect on what a helpful informed man he was RIP.
Ken
Ps you will see your knife as Item 43

Nice blade, I think this is an older example (due to the leather work too), however, I would like to point out that the "guard" (for lack of a better term) seems to be missing.

In addition to Lew's collection, you can find two other important collections online, where you can see lots of photographs of African swords and knives as well as interesting information:

Although the Tebu , or Toubou are to be found in NW Sudan , they are more commonly associated with inhabiting northern Chad, southern Libya & northeastern Niger .

On these the metal extension on the pommel is often described as a head knocker. Is this a valid description of its function?

Hi Jeffs,
Sorry I have no idea. African daggers are not really my thing but now and then one comes my way.

I have two of these
one recent from Chad 1970ties
