Dimensions:
Total Length (Hilt to Tip of blade): 36 inches.
Hilt: 6.5 inches.
Blade: 29.5 inches.
Description:
A 19th Century Indian Tulwar with a beautiful polished, watered Damascus steel blade.
Comments:
Hilt: Basic Iron hilt with gold inlay on the sides with a chiseled pommel. Some rust and pitting. Hilt fits nice and snug in my hands...
Blade: Watered Damascus steel pattern along the entirety of the blade on both sides, two fullers in the blade, sharp edge and very sturdy. A couple chips on the cutting edge.
This is a very good example of your textbook example of a Tulwar which would most likely be used in day to day wear. I come to this conclusion as the blade is sharp and shows it has been sharpened more than a couple times in it's lifetime. Plus the fact that there's no metal inlay (koftigari) on the hilt. The marriage between the hilt and sword is sublime and strong which is a good sign.
PRICE: $900 (USD) OBO
