Hi all i picked this up recently, what i liked about was the fact it looks well used and has aquired a lovey colour , im not familiar with powder flasks but my guess would be indian maybe ?

I cannot see how it should be possible to pour powder out of this flask into a pan

Its an Indian Moghul Goathorn and Ivory Powder Flask. Like this one ...below :shrug:

Great thanks for your reply and ID , it looks very old ,my guess would be maybe mid 19th century :)

I am also puzzled about its utility. A suitable spout, probably of metal, could fit into the aperture on the large end, but that is normally where the filler opening and plug are. And if that were indeed the case, why is there an aperture on the small end, which curls so close to the body that it's difficult to see how it can conveniently access either the pan or the muzzle.
