Of course it's Sudan
Actually you are very lucky because you got a rare bird.
The hilt follow the classic style of late Antique columns. It's very rare.
You can find some parallel with headrests from Sudan and Ancient Egypt
lucky man you are

The dagger is interesting and nice. Please, could you post a photo of the terminal of the steel stud/thorn at the end of the handle ? Is there any decorative terminal (e.g. coin or small metal cup or cube)? Or is there ordinary "clinch" termination ?

Thank you. Missing terminal or peened tang is not usual in the case of this kind of straight Sudanese blades. It is more usual in the case of X hilts and curved styles blades. -It may be the second handle ? - Maybe different tribes/producers mixed together ? Isnīt there influence of Ottoman design (fluting on the handle ?
Did you receive it from older collection out of Africa or is it comming directly from Sudan now ?

Thanks Martin ... this is what threw me too . It was a one off find , but definitely not direct from the Sudan .
