Hello everybody,

I bought this walking stick with an hidden sword,
the hilt is made of deer horn, there is a devil ( boar-demon ? ) face on it
it seems made of bronze.
The blade has no stamps and the base seems more made for deco than for real use
but the point of the blade is really well made and sharp...

I don't really know if it is an old ( 1900-Romantic-Victorian period ) walking stick or just a recent copy ( hopefully with real deer horn and not resin...)

What do you think ?

Kind regards

Francky

Someone near me makes these for antique fairs. Don't get caught outside your home with one. Unless you want free room and board and a job sewing mail sacks for a while.

Try flexing the blade.

Hello,

Thank you Kronckew,
No, sadly I won't try a walk with this walking stick ! ;)

Yes the blade is quite flexible
( almost like a foil blade )

I do not like the bubble aspect of the cross cut of the horn near the brass tube. It remembers me of two-component resin...

Hello,

the ''bubbles'' are the holes of the blood capillaries of the horn base
( for grow it's better !!) cf other picture of a deer horn slice made in earring
( + no resin , I already heated a needle and it's ok !)

Where I found resin-glue, it's around the devil head.
maybe it was later added ?

For the blade shape at the basis,
I found this sword cane sold as a 19th Irish sword cane,
the blade is made in the same mode.
