I've attached some photographs of a couple of Indian spear heads that I've had for a while, one is rather 'Knife like' having a double curve (sharp on both edges) with tang, it has a brass ferrule and is contained in a wood and leather scabbard, I've seen a similar one in the past fitted with a short pole.
The other has a rather substantial 'armour piercing' blade with a socket.
I would be gratefull to hear any comments or opinions with regard to their origins.

Hi
I like the curved knife like one
I would question the length of the tang though as I would imagine if used on top of a pole there would be a lot of shear force that would potentially shear off the blade from the pole.
Just an observation and I wonder if it is actually a knife

Hello Ken, thanks for your input. I have had exactly the same thoughts regarding the length of the tang, which does not look as if it has been altered in any way. I don't remember seeing a knife quite in this style but there again Asian weapons are not my main interest.
Having said that, the heavily made brass collar is tightly attached to the tang and would effectively make a strong joint once the wood pole was fitted, being held both on the outside and the inside.
I have an open mind.
Mel.
