These are quite scarce, but this specimen is unique.

The handle is made of Akar Bahar, with two red coral cabochons, and ivory.

The blade has some pitting and rests of older staining.

The sheath is made of two different, well chosen wood pieces, Ketenga at the sheath mouth and Angsena. Buntut (endpiece) is horn. Copper wire bindings.

Blade length 23,5 cm, overall 32 cm.

Asking EUR 850, registered shipment included (shipping only to EU countries).

More pictures.

Blade is quenched and most likely has a steel core. If it ever has been thicker, then less then 1mm, the fit in the sheath is near to perfect for an antique weapon. There never has been a middle ridge.

Wooden parts are well chosen pieces with good grain, the join between the halves is hardly visible - overall best quality work. The appearance allows to place it surely before 1920, possibly around turn of centuries.

Ivory grain echoes wood grain on scabbards throat-piece.

Akar Bahar of this size is rare to find. Believed to possess protective qualities, even more as naturally grown form used for hilt.
