View Full Version : Two very unusual persian/indian axes for id please

Here are two axes I have recently acquired , but im stumped to know where they are from , they both have good age by the looks of them ,wooden shaft wrapped in leather with silver collars , please any information would be greatly appreciated

Interesting and unusual indeed and that might be the reason why you didn't get any replies so far.
Anyhow, it is quite clear they weren't meant for battle but for dress, ceremonial or other purposes (tourist market?). :shrug:

hi there , yes they are very unusual ,I cant find anything about them anywhere , I don't think they are tourist pieces as they have been well handled and show lots of age , I'm stumped on these ones .

Perhaps a close up picture of the inscriptions and a translation would shed some light on these pieces.

I don't believe they are tourist pieces. I think they may have originally been Indian and then made their way into Persia or Afghanistan. Hopefully someone will translate the inscriptions.- bj

I agree I don't think they are tourist pieces , it would be great to have them translated , they really are a mystery :)
